My med free birth!

Hello Everyone! Well the last almost 48 hours have been crazy! I'm gonna do in a timeline.

8:45 went for an ultrasound and was told my fluids were good at an 8 but Julia would not move to save her soul. I had ate some yogurt and drank some OJ which had made her move but it had been about 45 mins at this point.

9:45 saw my OB and she was like well it looks like we are having a baby today and sent me to L&D!

11:00 I'm now hooked up to everything including pitocin and am measuring at a 3 still.

12:00 OB comes in and checks me and I'm up to a 4cm and breaks my water.

2:00 Nurse checks me and I'm at a 5

at around 5:30 the doc who was gonna deliver me came in and I was at a 6 and she pushed on things to get them moving. we talk about pain med options but I really didn't think I needed them and didn't want them

at 8:00 I was finally at a 7after several checks

at 10:00 I was at an 8 and this is when things really started moving.

at 10:30 I was a 9 and I was really starting to hurt!!!

at 11:00 I was a 10 and they were getting everything set up for delivery

at 11:30 I was ready to push, and when I say ready, I was beyond ready, I had so much pressure down there I actually got sick and my contractions were off the chart. I wouldn't have made it without Kevin, he really was my rock! I was sitting on the edge of the bed and would put my face in his chest and he would remind me to breath.

after 20 mins of pushing we had our little girl! She is the most gorgeous child I have ever seen (I'm not prejudiced at all), and has just the right mix of her dad and me!

Some say I am crazy but I wouldn't of changed a thing! Plus it's only been like 40 hours and I am home now and feel great!

Bife Trinchado--Portugese Steak

Bife Trinchado--Portugese Steak

by Full Bellies, Happy Kids

1 lb cubed beef (I used eye round steak and cut it into cubes)

3 TBSP Worcestershire sauce

white wine (I used about 1/2 cup)

crushed garlic (I used about 2 tsp)

bay leaf (1)

salt (couple of pinches)

pepper (1 pinch)

paprika (I used about 1 tbl)

flour (enough to cover all meat, just eyeball it you can always add more)

1 medium onion sliced thinly (we didn't use)

Homemade Fries

In a bowl combine the beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, bay leaf, wine, salt and pepper and paprika. Place in the refrigerator for an hour or two so the flavors can really sink into the meat. The best way is to leave it overnight, the longer you leave the marinade, the better it tastes and the more tender the beef will become.

In a skillet, add some olive oil and a little butter. Grab the steak out of the refrigerator, add some flour and using your hands toss well to coat the beef. Pour into the skillet. Brown the beef well on both sides, about 3 to 4 minutes.

Remove the beef cubes and reduce heat.

Add the sliced onions and some more olive oil and butter.--I skipped

I usually keep some water next to me and add a little at a time, just enough to keep a good amount of sauce in the skillet.Cook the onions until soft, then add the beef to the pan again, mix well and let simmer for about 20 minutes. Remember to keep checking the pan and adding a little water, you want to end up with a lot of sauce.

Ladle a good amount of beef and gravy into a plate, lay the fries around the meat and serve immediately.

My Sister-In-Law's Baby Shower

I was asked by my Sister-in-Law's best friend to make the cake for her baby shower. It was to be in the shape of a frog and my Mother-in-Law had the pan. For my first character cake I think it turned out pretty good!

The Wedding

The day finally came for my best friend's wedding. It was a gorgeous day and she was a gorgeous bride. We ate the groom's cake at the Rehearsal Dinner since it is always outshined by the wedding cake on the day of.

It turned out excellent and it was even better tasting! It was so much fun to do!

The wedding cake turned out wonderfully as well and I received a ton of compliments on the taste of the cake!

Recreation of our wedding cake for our 1 year Anniversary!

I will admit this was not my best work, but it was fun. I made a cake that was to be a recreation of our wedding cake. Our cake was nasty on our 6 month anniversary so I knew it wouldn't be good at a year. I made it after a very long day/week and was just ready to get ready to leave on our Anniversary get-away! I did not do the border and it would have looked a ton better with it, but here it is!

Trial Wedding Cake

My Best Friend Ashley is getting married in May and has asked me to make her cakes, so I made a trial cake that consisted of different flavors and icing choices as well as different ways to ice it, smooth vs. wavy. We had fun after her shower with a little taste testing with our moms.
